Does your little one want to stay latched for naps? ✨Before I tell you more, FOLLOW @cocoonandcradle for more sleep & breastfeeding tips✨ If I had a dollar for every nip-trapped nap with my littlest, I’d be rich 😂 Every time I tried to remove my breast from her mouth, she would wake and search for the breast, then go straight back to sleep once she was latched again. If you find this too, please know that this is super normal! The breast is warm, they feel close to you, breastmilk has sleep inducing hormones, and sucking is comforting and relaxing. There’s no wonder they fall asleep there 😉 If you don’t love the nip-trapped nap though, you can always wait for their suck to stop or really slow down to a faint flutter, and then try to remove your breast. Often popping a finger under their chin for a second, after your breast comes out of their mouth, can really help. This just keeps their mouth closed, and they usually do what looks like a few sucks, before going back to sleep. But unfortunately this trick doesn’t always work - in which case the easiest thing is just to relax into it and find some rest yourself too. How do you feel about this? Are you ever nip trapped and nap trapped? Let me know ⬇️🧡
